सबसे ज़रूरी बात यह है कि जब आप किसी के साथ काम करते हैं, तो उनके साथ एक अच्छा तालमेल बैठ जाता है। उनका आप पर एक ख़ास भरोसा होता है। ऐसे में आपको हर बात समझाने की ज़रूरत नहीं पड़ती। किसी ऐसे नए चेहरे की तस्वीरें खींचना बहुत मुश्किल होता है जिससे आप छह महीने तक दोबारा काम न करें। जिन लोगों के साथ मैं बार-बार काम करता हूँ, उनमें कुछ ऐसी ख़ासियतें होती हैं जो मुझे बहुत पसंद हैं। उनके स्वभाव में एक अजीब सी आज़ादी होती है या फिर उनमें कुछ छोटी-मोटी कमियाँ होती हैं जो उन्हें और भी वास्तविक बनाती हैं। मुझे लगता है कि आप किसी के साथ जितना ज़्यादा काम करते हैं, तस्वीरें उतनी ही बेहतर आती जाती हैं।

It's very hard when you photograph someone who's a fresh face and then you don't work with them again for six months. All these people I work with over and over again have qualities that I love. There's something very free about them or there are some slight imperfections about them. I think the more you work with someone, the pictures get better and better.
