I don't write poems with a purpose in mind, but I'd hope that some readers would find their experiences mirrored or articulated here - and that the language would feel alive to them. Alive, in a way that is meaningful and pleasurable.

मैंने कम उम्र में ही अपनी माँ को खो दिया, और कई बार मुझे ऐसा महसूस हुआ कि मुझे राह दिखाने वाला कोई नहीं था। जब मैं भविष्य की ओर देखती हूँ तो सिवाय एक खालीपन के कुछ नहीं दिखता। एक जगह वक्ता कहती है, "मैं उस बिंदु से आगे नहीं देख पाती जहाँ मैं हूँ—आपकी तरह, मैं भी बस यहाँ से गुजर रही हूँ।" अगर मेरी माँ जीवित होतीं, तो शायद मुझे इस बात का ज़्यादा साफ़ अंदाज़ होता कि आज से 25 साल बाद एक सार्थक और जीवंत जीवन कैसा दिख सकता है।

"I can't see past the point where I am," the speaker says at one point - "like you, I'm just passing through."
