सच्चाई यह है कि भारत के गाँवों में पचास करोड़ ऐसे बच्चे हैं जिनकी ज़िंदगी पहले से तय होती है। अगर वे बहुत भाग्यशाली हैं और उनमें खेल की असाधारण प्रतिभा है, तो शायद वे ओलंपिक के लिए मुकाबला कर सकें, या शायद सेना में भर्ती हो सकें। लेकिन अगर आप प्रतिभावान खिलाड़ी नहीं हैं, तो आखिरकार आपको अपने परिवार के साथ काम करना होगा और अपने परिवार की चली आ रही परंपरा को ही आगे बढ़ाना बेबस होकर जारी रखना होगा। गाँवों में हालात यहाँ तक पहुँच चुके हैं कि वहाँ कोई उम्मीद बची ही नहीं है। और उम्मीद की पहली चिंगारी तब सुलगती है जब आप खुद से यह सवाल पूछते हैं, "भगवान ने मुझे कौन सी प्रतिभा दी है जिसे मैं निखार सकता हूँ और अपनी ज़िंदगी को बेहतर बनाने के लिए उसका इस्तेमाल कर सकता हूँ?"

If they're very lucky and they're a gifted athlete, maybe they can compete for the Olympics, or maybe they can get into the military. But if you're not a gifted athlete, then you're going to end up working for your family and you're going to perpetuate what your family is. It's gotten to the point, in villages, where there's no hope. And the first spark of hope is when you ask yourself the question,"What gift did God give me that I can develop and use to better my life?"
