The Shadow of God is the Infinite Space that accommodates the infinite Gross Sphere which, with its occurrences of millions of universes, within and without the ranges of men's knowledge, is the Creation that issued from the Point of Finiteness in the infinite Existence that is God.

When nothing upsets you, you are at the beginning of the path. When you desire nothing, you are halfway on the path; when nothing becomes everything, you are perfected.

वही इंसान सबसे अधिक खुश है जो दूसरों से किसी खुशी की उम्मीद नहीं रखता। प्रेम देने में आनंदित और महिमामंडित होता है, लेने में नहीं। इसलिए प्रेम करना और देना सीखिए, और दूसरों से किसी भी चीज़ की अपेक्षा मत कीजिए।

Happiest is he who expects no happiness from others. Love delights and glorifies in giving, not receiving. So learn to love and give, and not to expect anything from others.

Why is it so difficult to find God? Because you're looking for something you've never lost.

Light can penetrate any amount of darkness but no amount of darkness can penetrate light.

Love has to spring spontaneously from within And it is no way amenable to any form of inner or outer force. Love and coercion can never go together; But though love cannot be forced on anyone, It can be awakened in him through love itself. Love is essentially self communicative; Those who do not have it catch it from those who have it. True love is unconquerable and irresistible, And it goes on gathering power and spreading itself, Until eventually it transforms everyone whom it touches.

जो मन तेज़ है वह बीमार है। जो मन धीमे है वह स्वस्थ है। जो मन शांत है वह दिव्य है।

A mind that is fast is sick. A mind that is slow is sound. A mind that is still is divine.

In the spiritual life it is not necessary to have a complete map of the path in order to begin traveling. On the contrary, having such complete knowledge may actually hinder rather than help the onward march. The deeper secrets of spiritual life are unraveled to those who take risks and who make bold experiments with it. They are not meant for the idler who seeks guarantees at every step. Those who speculate from the shore about the ocean shall know only its surface, but those who would know the depths of the ocean must be willing to plunge into it.

जीवन का उद्देश्य अपने भीतर ईश्वर को अनुभव करना है। यह हमारे सांसルिक कर्तव्यों को निभाते हुए भी किया जा सकता है।

The purpose of life is to realize God within ourselves. This can be done even whilst attending to our worldly duties.

भावनाएं और संवेग केवल मन और ऊर्जा की रचना हैं। प्रेम आत्मा की रचना है।

Feelings and emotions are only the creation of mind and energy. Love is the creation of the soul.

कठिनाइयों पर विजय पाकर अपनी महानता साबित करने का अवसर हमें कठिनाइयाँ ही देती हैं।

Difficulties give us the opportunity to prove our greatness by overcoming them.

इच्छाहीनता के अलावा किसी चीज़ की इच्छा मत करो। सभी उम्मीदों से ऊपर उठने के अलावा किसी चीज़ की उम्मीद मत रखो। कुछ मत चाहो और तुम्हारे पास सब कुछ होगा।

Desire nothing except desirelessness. Hope for nothing except to rise above all hopes. Want nothing and you will have everything.

जो चीज़ें वास्तविक हैं वे मौन में दी और ली जाती हैं।

Things that are real are given and received in silence.

लोग किसी बड़े पल और महान घटना का इंतजार करते हैं और यह भूल जाते हैं कि खुशी जीवन की छोटी-छोटी दैनिक बातों को लगातार संवारने से मिलती है। लोग प्रेम व्यक्त करने के लिए उस खास पल का इंतजार करते हैं और यह भूल जाते हैं कि प्रेम हर दिन अभ्यास में लाई जाने वाली विचारशीलता से उपजता है। लोग इंतजार करते हैं, लेकिन इंतजार भविष्य है और 'अभी' (NOW) ही हमेशा सही समय है।

People wait for the big moment, the great event, and forget that happiness comes from building steadily on the small daily things of life. People wait for that special moment to express love and forget that love springs from thoughtfulness practised every day. People wait, but waiting is future and NOW is always the time.

बात सिर्फ इतनी नहीं है कि आप ब्रह्मांड के भीतर हैं, बल्कि यह है कि ब्रह्मांड आपके भीतर है।

It is not so much that you are within the cosmos but that the cosmos is within you.

हृदय को शुद्ध करने और मन को शांत करने के लिए तैयार करने का सबसे अच्छा तरीका एक सामान्य, सांसारिक जीवन जीना है। अपने दिन-प्रतिदिन के कर्तव्यों, जिम्मेदारियों, पसंद-नापसंद आदि के बीच रहना आपकी मदद करेगा। ये सब आपके हृदय की शुद्धि का माध्यम बन जाते हैं।

The best way to cleanse the heart and prepare for the stilling of the mind is to lead a normal, worldly life. Living in the midst of your day-to-day duties, responsibilities, likes, dislikes, etc., will help you. All these become the very means for the purification of your heart.

ऐसी कोई चीज़ नहीं है जिसे प्रेम हासिल न कर सके, और ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं है जिसका प्रेम बलिदान न कर सके।

There is nothing that love cannot achieve, and there is nothing that love cannot sacrifice.

ईश्वर को पाना वास्तव में अपने स्वयं के स्व (खुद) को पाना है।

The finding of God is the coming to one's own self.

यदि आप ईश्वर के अस्तित्व के प्रति आश्वस्त हैं, तो उसे खोजना, उसे देखना और उसका साक्षात्कार करना अब आप पर निर्भर है। ईश्वर को अपने बाहर मत तलाशिए। ईश्वर केवल आपके भीतर मिल सकता है, क्योंकि उसका एकमात्र निवास स्थान हृदय है।

If you are convinced of God's existence then it rests with you to seek Him, to see Him and to realize Him. Do not search for God outside of you. God can only be found within you, for His only abode is the heart.

Live a sincere life; be natural, and be honest with yourself.

Long for what is real. You will then have no time for worrying over what may never happen.

There is no higher or lower goal. There is only one goal, Self-Realization.

Love can attain what the intellect cannot fathom.

सीखने की सबसे कठिन चीज़ों में से एक है—बिना हुक्म चलाए, बिना किसी हंगामे के, और बिना किसी ऊंच-नीच के बोध के सेवा करना। अध्यात्म की दुनिया में, उपयोगिता के जितना ही विनम्रता का भी महत्व है।

One of the most difficult things to learn is to render service without bossing, without making a fuss about it, and without any consciousness of high and low. In the world of spirituality, humility counts at least as much as utility.

दिव्य प्रेम हमें अपने और दूसरों के प्रति सच्चा बनाता है... दिव्य प्रेम हमारी कठिनाइयों और समस्याओं का समाधान है। यह हमें हर तरह के बंधनों से मुक्त करता है। यह हमें सच बोलना, सच सोचना और सच करना सिखाता है। यह हमें पूरी सृष्टि के साथ एक होने का अहसास कराता है। दिव्य प्रेम हमारे हृदय को पवित्र करता है और हमारे अस्तित्व को महिमामंडित करता है।

Divine love makes us true to ourselves and to others... Divine love is the solution to our difficulties and problems. It frees us from every kind of binding. It makes us speak truly, think truly, and act truly. It makes us feel one with the whole universe. Divine love purifies our hearts and glorifies our being.

ईश्वर हमेशा से मौน में कार्य करते रहे हैं, अदृश्य, अनसुने, सिवाय उनके जो उनके अनंत मौन का अनुभव करते हैं। जिन लोगों में एक पूर्ण गुरु को समर्पित होने का साहस और ज्ञान है, वे उनकी कृपा के पात्र बनते हैं।

God has been everlastingly working in Silence, unobserved, unheard, except by those who experience His Infinite Silence. Those who have got the courage and wisdom to surrender themselves to a Perfect Master are the recipients of His Grace.

शुद्ध प्रेम महिमा में अद्वितीय है; शक्ति में इसका कोई मुकाबला नहीं है और ऐसा कोई अंधकार नहीं है जिसे यह मिटा न सके।

Pure love is matchless in majesty; it has no parallel in power and there is no darkness it cannot dispel.

तोते की तरह रटी-रटाई बातें करना छोड़ दीजिए। जिसे भी आप सच और न्यायसंगत महसूस करते हैं, उसका अभ्यास करना शुरू कीजिए। अपनी आस्था और विश्वास का दिखावा मत कीजिए। आपको अपना धर्म नहीं छोड़ना है, बल्कि केवल कर्मकांडों और अनुष्ठानों के छिलके से चिपके रहना छोड़ना है। सभी धर्मों के मूल में निहित सत्य के केंद्रीय कोर तक पहुँचने के लिए, धर्म से परे जाइए।

Give up all forms of parrotry. Start practicing whatever you truly feel to be true and justly to be just. Do not make a show of your faith and beliefs. You have not to give up your religion, but to give up clinging to the husk of mere ritual and ceremony. To get to the fundamental core of Truth underlying all religions, reach beyond religion.

संचा प्रेम दिल के कमज़ोरों और कायरों का खेल नहीं है; यह शक्ति और समझ से पैदा होता है।

True love is no game of the faint-hearted and the weak; it is born of strength and understanding.

ईश्वर को समझाया नहीं जा सकता... ईश्वर को केवल जिया जा सकता है।

God cannot be explained... God can only be lived.

बाहरी मौन आंतरिक मौन को प्राप्त करने में मदद करता है।

External silence helps to achieve inner Silence.

अवतार के काल सृजन की वसंत-ऋतु की तरह होते हैं। वे शक्ति की एक नई अभिव्यक्ति, चेतना की एक नई जागृति, जीवन का एक नया अनुभव लाते हैं—केवल कुछ लोगों के लिए नहीं, बल्कि सभी के लिए। ऊर्जा और जागरूकता के वे गुण, जिनका उपयोग और आनंद केवल कुछ उन्नत आत्माओं द्वारा किया गया था, समस्त मानवता के लिए सुलभ करा दिए जाते हैं। संपूर्ण जीवन को चेतना के एक उच्च स्तर पर उन्नत किया जाता है, ऊर्जा की एक नई गति से जोड़ा जाता है। संवेदना (sensation) से तर्क (reason) की ओर संक्रमण ऐसा ही एक कदम था; तर्क से अंतर्ज्ञान (intuition) की ओर संक्रमण दूसरा होगा।

Avataric periods are like the spring-tide of creation. They bring a new release of power, a new awakening of consciousness, a new experience of life - not merely for a few, but for all. Qualities of energy and awareness, which had been used and enjoyed by only a few advanced souls, are made available for all humanity. Life, as a whole is stepped up to a higher level of consciousness, is geared to a new rate of energy. The transition from sensation to reason was one such step; the transition from reason to intuition will be another.

अनुभव इतने अनगिनत और विविध हैं कि यात्रा अंतहीन प्रतीत होती है और मंज़िल हमेशा नज़र से ओझल रहती है। लेकिन इसका आश्चर्य यह है कि जब अंततः आप अपनी मंज़िल पर पहुँचते हैं तो आपको पता चलता है कि आपने कभी यात्रा की ही नहीं थी! यह यहाँ से यहीं तक की यात्रा थी।

The experiences are so innumerable and varied, that the journey appears to be interminable and the Destination is ever out of sight. But the wonder of it is, when at last you reach your Destination you find that you had never travelled at all! It was a journey from here to Here.

ब्रह्मांड को नियंत्रित करने वाले नियम के अनुसार, सभी कष्ट आपके अपने वास्तविक स्वरूप से पर्दा हटाने के लिए आपका प्रेम-श्रम (labor of love) हैं।

According to the law that governs the universe,all sufferings are your labor of love to unveil your real self.

केवल मानव रूप में ही जीवन अपने अंतिम लक्ष्य को प्राप्त कर सकता है, जो सर्वव्यापक और अनंत दिव्यता का साक्षात्कार करना है।

Only in the human form is it possible for life to attain its final goal, which is to realize the all-pervading and infinite Divinity.

मैं लोगों से जो किताब पढ़वाऊँगा, वह हृदय की किताब है, जिसमें जीवन के रहस्य की चाबी छिपी है

The book that I shall make people read is the book of the heart, which holds the key to the mystery of life

वही इंसान सबसे अधिक खुश है जो दूसरों से किसी खुशी की उम्मीद नहीं रखता।

Happiest is he who expects no happiness from others.

शून्यता (Nothingness) ही सब कुछ (Everything) की छाया है।

Nothing is the shadow of Everything.

यह संपूर्ण ब्रह्मांड, अपनी विशालता, भव्यता और सुंदरता के साथ, केवल एक कल्पना मात्र है। इतनी सारी खोजों, शोधों और वैज्ञानिक ज्ञान के बावजूद, यह सृष्टि एक अनसुलझी पहेली बनी हुई है।

This whole universe, with all its vastness, grandeur and beauty, is nothing but sheer imagination. In spite of so many discoveries, researches and scientific knowledge, the creation remains a great unsolved riddle.

क्षमा करना सबसे बड़ा परोपकार है। (जब किसी के पास प्रचुर मात्रा में हो तो गरीबों को धन और वस्तुएँ देना आसान होता है, लेकिन क्षमा करना कठिन है; फिर भी यदि कोई ऐसा कर सके तो यह सबसे उत्तम कार्य है।)

Forgiveness is the best charity. (It is easy to give the poor money and goods when one has plenty, but to forgive is hard; but it is the best thing if one can do it.)

हर अच्छे काम को विरोध का सामना करना पड़ता है, और उस विरोध की प्रतिक्रिया हमेशा उस काम में मददगार साबित होती है।

Every good work has to face opposition, and the reaction of the opposition offered always helps the work.

जो लोग लगातार कुछ न कुछ चाहते रहते हैं, वे कभी भी खुश महसूस नहीं करेंगे।

Those who constantly want something will never feel happy.

ईश्वर बार-बार विभिन्न रूपों में आए हैं, बार-बार अलग-अलग शब्दों और अलग-अलग भाषाओं में उसी एक सत्य को कहा है—लेकिन कितने ऐसे हैं जो उसके अनुसार जीते हैं? सत्य को अपने जीवन की मुख्य सांस बनाने के बजाय, मनुष्य इसे बार-बार एक यांत्रिक धर्म में बदलकर समझौता कर लेता है—विपत्ति के समय सहारा लेने के लिए एक आसान लाठी, अपनी अंतरात्मा को शांत करने वाला मरहम या पालन करने की एक परंपरा।

God has come again and again in various Forms, has spoken again and again in different words and different languages the Same One Truth - but how many are there that live up to it? Instead of making Truth the vitalbreath of his life, man compromises by making over and over againa mechanical religion of it - a handy staff to lean on in times of adversity, a soothing balm for his conscience or a tradition to be followed.

यदि हम यह समझें और महसूस करें कि ईश्वर की सबसे बड़ी भक्ति और पूजा यह है कि उनके किसी भी प्राणी को नुकसान न पहुँचाया जाए, तो हम वास्तव में ईश्वर से प्रेम कर रहे हैं।

If we understand and feel that the greatest act of devotion and worship to God is not to harm any of His beings, we are loving God.

मन में बहुत कम ऐसी चीजें हैं जो चिंता जितनी ऊर्जा खा जाती हैं। किसी भी बात की चिंता न करना सबसे कठिन कामों में से एक है। चिंता तब होती है जब चीजें गलत होती हैं, लेकिन अतीत की घटनाओं के संबंध में केवल यह कामना करना व्यर्थ है कि वे कुछ और होतीं। जमा हुआ अतीत जैसा है वैसा ही है, और कितनी भी चिंता इसे वह नहीं बना सकती जो यह पहले था। लेकिन सीमित अहंकार-मन (ego-mind) खुद को अपने अतीत से जोड़ लेता है, उससे उलझ जाता है और अधूरी इच्छाओं की पीड़ा को ज़िंदा रखता है।

There are very few things in the mind which eat up as much energy as worry. It is one of the most difficult things not to worry about anything. Worry is experienced when things go wrong, but in relation to past happenings it is idle merely to wish that they might have been otherwise. The frozen past is what it is, and no amount of worrying is going to make it other than what it has been. But the limited ego-mind identifies itself with its past, gets entangled with it and keeps alive the pangs of frustrated desires.

Don't Worry Be Happy

प्रसन्न रहना एक दिव्य कला है।

It's a divine art to be cheerful.

मिलन प्राप्त करना इतना असंभव रूप से कठिन है क्योंकि जो आप पहले से ही हैं, वह बनना असंभव है! मिलन अपने आप को एकमात्र (The Only One) के रूप में जानने के अलावा और कुछ नहीं है।

To attain union is so impossibly difficult because it is impossible to become what you already are! Union is nothing other than knowledge of oneself as the Only One.

सारा भ्रम आता-जाता रहता है, लेकिन आत्मा अपरिवर्तित रहती है। ईश्वर-प्राप्ति (God-realization) का अर्थ इस महत्वपूर्ण सत्य का वास्तविक अनुभव करना है कि आत्मा अमर है।

All illusion comes and goes, but the soul remains unchanged. What is meant by God-realization is to actually experience this important thing that the soul is eternal.

स्थायी रूप से दयालु होने के लिए ईश्वर को अस्थायी रूप से क्रूर होना पड़ता है।

God has to be temporarily cruel in order to be permanently kind.

समस्त अस्तित्व और महत्व के सार में प्रवेश करना, और रूपों की दुनिया में—सत्य, प्रेम, पवित्रता और सुंदरता को अभिव्यक्त करके—दूसरों के मार्गदर्शन के लिए उस आंतरिक प्राप्ति की सुगंध को बिखेरना, यही एकमात्र ऐसा खेल है जिसका वास्तविक और परम महत्व है। अन्य सभी घटनाएँ, प्रसंग और उपलब्धियाँ अपने आप में कोई स्थायी महत्व नहीं रख सकतीं।

To penetrate into the essence of all being and significance, and to release the fragrance of that inner attainment for the guidance of others, by expressing in the world of forms- truth, love, purity and beauty - this is the sole game which has any intrinsic and absolute worth. All other happenings, incidents and attainments can, in themselves, have no lasting importance.

अधिकांश लोगों की बुद्धि अनगिनत इच्छाओं की गुलाम होती है। आध्यात्मिक दृष्टि से, ऐसा जीवन मानव अस्तित्व का सबसे निचला स्तर है। मानव अस्तित्व का सर्वोच्च स्तर सभी इच्छाओं से मुक्त होता है और उसकी पहचान पूर्णता या संतोष है।

The intellect of most persons is harnessed by innumerable wants. From the spiritual point of view, such a life is the lowest type of human existence. The highest type of human existence is free from all wants and is characterised by sufficiency or contentment.

मैं भी एक कलाकार हूँ। पूरी दुनिया मेरा कैनवास है। मैं आत्माओं में रंग भरता हूँ।

I am also an artist. I have the whole world as my canvas. I paint souls.

सत्य की अनुभूति में मुस्लिम, हिंदू, पारसी या ईसाई में कोई अंतर नहीं है। अंतर केवल शब्दों और भाषा का है। सत्य किसी विशेष जाति या धर्म की बपौती नहीं है।

There is no difference in the realization of the Truth either by a Muslim, Hindu, Zoroastrian, or a Christian. The difference is only in words and terms. Truth is not the monopoly of a particular race or religion.

इच्छाहीनता के आध्यात्मिक आनंद का अनुभव करने के लिए मन की सीमाओं से परे जाना पड़ता है।

One has to go beyond the mind to experience the spiritual bliss of desirelessness.

चिंता ने कभी किसी का भला नहीं किया, और यह मानसिक ऊर्जा की बर्बादी से भी बदतर है, क्योंकि यह जीवन के आनंद और पूर्णता को काफी हद तक कम कर देती है।

Worry has never done anyone any good, and it is very much worse than mere dissipation of psychic energy, for it substantially curtails the joy and fullness of life.

केवल अनंत ही अस्तित्व में है और सत्य है; यह नश्वर संसार क्षणिक और मिथ्या है। परे की दुनिया में उठी उस आदिम लहर के कारण ही अनंत का इस आभासी नश्वर संसार में अवतरण हुआ। यह वह दिव्य रहस्य और दिव्य लीला है जिसमें अनंत चेतना सदा नश्वर चेतना के सभी स्तरों पर खेलती रहती है।

The Infinite alone exists and is Real; the finite is passing and false. The Original Whim in the Beyond caused the apparent descent of the Infinite into the realm of the seeming finite. This is the Divine Mystery and Divine Game in which Infinite Consciousness for ever plays on all levels of finite consciousness.

बस यह सोचिए कि आप सबसे महान हैं। ऐसा सोचने में क्या हर्ज है? आप यह गर्व के लिए नहीं, बल्कि अपने भीतर की सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रतिभा को बाहर लाने के लिए करते हैं। इसमें कुछ भी गलत नहीं है।

Just think you are the greatest. Where's the harm in thinking like that? It is not for pride you do it, but for bringing the best out of you. There is nothing wrong.

Truth is simple, but Illusion makes it infinitely intricate. The person is rare who possesses an insatiable longing for Truth; the rest allow Illusion to bind them ever more and more.

The essence of spirituality does not consist in a specialised or narrow interest in some imagined part of life, but in a certain enlightened attitude to all the various situations which obtain in life. It covers and includes the whole of life. All the material things of this world can be made subservient to the divine game, and when they are thus subordained they become auxiliary to the self-affirmation of the spirit.

Who says God has created this world? We have created it by our own imagination.
