Would you not return fearless and singing? What can earth do to you, if you are guaranteed heaven? To fear the worst earthly loss would be like a millionaire fearing the loss of a penny — less, a scratch on a penny.

True love, unlike popular sentimental substitutes, is willing to suffer. Love is not "luv." Love is the cross. Our problem at first, the sheer problem of suffering, was a cross without Christ. We must never fall into the opposite and equal trap of a Christ without a cross.

How silly to fuss with artificial tanning salons and lotions and lights when the Son is out!

The world was won for Christ not by arguments but by sanctity: "What you are speaks so loud, I can hardly hear what you say.

The Church is God's Bride. All the saints and mystics say the ultimate purpose of human life, the highest end for which we were made, is the Spiritual Marriage. Religion is essentially heterosexual and therefore fruitful.

Indeed, we feel dislike toward ourselves, we berate ourselves, precisely because we love ourselves; because we care about our good, we are impatient with our bad.

यही वजह है कि गुस्से और नफरत के बीच का फर्क समझना बहुत जरूरी है। गुस्सा एक ऐसी चीज है (जो पाप नहीं है) जो खुद भगवान में भी है, जबकि नफरत भगवान में नहीं बल्कि शैतान में होती है। अगर हम गुस्से और नफरत में साफ-साफ फर्क नहीं करेंगे, तो हम भगवान और शैतान में भी फर्क नहीं कर पाएंगे!

This is the reason why it is crucial to distinguish anger from hatred. There is a kind of anger (nonsinful kind) which...is in God himself, while hate is not in God but is in Satan. If we do not clearly distinguish anger from hatred, then we do not clearly distinguish God from Satan!
