I am always shocked to discover how many people believe that hardships are a punishment from God! When people face tests or see others facing tests, they assume Allah must be angry with them. SubhannAllah! Remember which people were tested the most: The Prophets! And they were the closest to Allah. Every hardship is good for you-if it brings you closer to Him!

There’s something amazing about this life. The very same worldly attribute that causes us pain is also what gives us relief: Nothing here lasts. What does that mean? It means that the breathtakingly beautiful rose in my vase will wither tomorrow. It means that my youth will neglect me. But it also means that the sadness I feel today will change tomorrow. My pain will die. My laughter won’t last forever but neither will my tears. We say this life isn’t perfect. And it isn’t. It isn’t perfectly good. But, it also isn’t perfectly bad, either.

And so much patience. But every process has an end and an appointed term. Your healing will come... And like all created things, your worldly pain will die.

Time for solitude. God, I ask you to remake my heart. Fill it with what You love. Remove from it what You don’t. And mend what I’ve broken.

When someone hurts you, your first thought may be to wish you had never met them at all. But remember that even those who've hurt you, came into your life for a reason, and left for a reason. It’s for the best and healing starts with acceptance.

When we can’t marry the person we had in mind, our inability to look beyond may even blind sight us from someone who is in fact better for us. When we don’t get hired, or we lose something dear to us, it’s hard to take a step back and notice the bigger picture. Often Allah takes things away from us, only to replace them with something greater.

तौबा दिल की सफाई है, और ज़िक्र दिल की खुराक है।

Tawbah is the cleaning of the heart, dhikr is the feeding of the heart.

आप लोगों की मोहब्बत के पीछे भागते रहते हैं, लेकिन वह आपको कभी नहीं मिलेगी। और जो थोड़ी-बहुत मिल भी जाए, वह कभी काफी नहीं होगी। आपके अंदर का खालीपन बहुत बड़ा है। देखिए, वह ईश्वर ने बनाया है, ईश्वर के लिए। भला कोई और चीज़ उसे कैसे भर सकती है?

You keep running after the love of the people, but you’ll never get it. And what you do get, will never be enough. The hole inside you is too big. You see, it was made by God, for God. How could anything less fill it?

जब कोई आपको अपना दिल, अपना अतीत, अपने ज़ख्म दिखाता है, तो उसने आपको अपने सबसे गहरे हिस्से का अमानतदार बनाया है। यही वह हिस्सा है जो उन्हें अनोखा और खूबसूरत बनाता है। इस तरह का भरोसा मिलना बहुत बड़ा सम्मान है। उस भरोसे की अपनी जान देकर हिफाज़त करें।

When someone shows you their heart, their past, their wounds, they have entrusted you with the deepest part of themselves. It is the part of themselves that makes them uniquely beautiful. To be trusted in this way is a great honor. Guard that trust with your life.

हम दो लोग हैं। एक वह जो अंदर है और एक वह जो बाहर है। सिद्क (सच्चाई) तब है जब ये दोनों एक हो जाएं।

We are two people. The person inside and the person outside. Sidq (truthfulness) is when they are the same.

जान लें कि बदलाव की शुरुआत कभी-कभी गिरने से होती है। इसलिए अपने गिरने को कभी कोसें नहीं।

Know that transformation sometimes begins with a fall. So never curse the fall.

लोगों से ईश्वर की खातिर प्यार करें, लेकिन कभी ईश्वर से लोगों की खातिर प्यार न करें।

Love people for the sake of God, but never love God for the sake of people.

खुशी, गम, नुकसान और फायदा सब बीत जाते हैं। वे हमारे साथ जो कर जाते हैं, वही बाकी रह जाता है।

Happiness, sadness, loss and gain all pass away. What they do to us is what remains.

चिंता अपनी कोशिशों पर भरोसा करने का सीधा नतीजा है।

Worry is a direct consequence of relying on your own efforts.

कयामत के दिन सबसे पहले नमाज़ के बारे में पूछा जाएगा, और फिर भी वही हमारे ज़हन में सबसे आखिरी चीज़ होती है।

Salah is the first thing we will be asked about on the Day of Judgment, and yet it is the last thing that is on our mind.

शरीर की बहुत सी ज़रूरतें हैं। लेकिन रूह की सिर्फ एक ही ज़रूरत है: ईश्वर के साथ होना।

The body has many needs. But the soul has only one: to be with God.

दें। तब भी जब आप जानते हों कि बदले में कुछ नहीं मिलेगा।

Give. Even when you know you can get nothing back.

लोगों की बातों की चिंता न करें। कभी वे आपकी तारीफ करेंगे, कभी निंदा। ये सब चीज़ें मिट जाने वाली हैं। और अंत में, अल्लाह सब कुछ संभाल लेता है। बिल्कुल सही तरीके से।

Don't worry about what the people say. Sometimes they'll praise you. Sometimes they'll condemn you. All these things all fade away. And in the end, Allah takes care of everything. Perfectly.

अगर नाखुशी का कोई एक नुस्खा है, तो वह है: उम्मीदें।

If there is one recipe for unhappiness it is that: expectations.

एक दिन ऐसा आएगा जब इंसान अपनी हर प्यारी चीज़, अपनी हर दौलत, इस दुनिया में हासिल की गई हर चीज़, ज़मीन और आसमान के बीच की हर चीज़ लुटाने को तैयार होगा... सिर्फ इस मौके के लिए कि वह वापस यहाँ आ सके और बस एक सजदा कर सके। सिर्फ एक।

There will come a day when a person would be willing to give everything they ever loved, everything they ever owned, everything they ever chased in this life, everything between the heavens and earth...just for the chance to come back here and make just one sajdah (prostration). Just one.

लोग आएंगे और जाएंगे। कुछ वक्त के लिए आपके साथ होंगे, तो कुछ नहीं होंगे। कुछ आपसे प्यार करेंगे और कुछ नहीं। यह जिंदगी का ज्वार-भाटा कभी एक सा नहीं रहता। इस भागदौड़ से समय-समय पर खुद को थोड़ा अलग कीजिए। और यह बात जान लीजिए कि केवल वही दिल इस बदलती और मिटती दुनिया की लहरों का सामना कर सकता है, जो उस अडिग और स्थिर शक्ति से जुड़ा हो।

The people will come and go. Sometimes they'll be there for you. Sometimes they wont. Some will love you, some will not. This tide was never meant to be still. Step away from time to time. And know that only a heart fixed on the unmoving spot can ride the waves of this ever-changing, ever-fading life.

हम जो कुछ भी करते हैं, उसके पीछे प्यार ही प्रेरणा होता है। यहाँ तक कि डर और नफरत भी प्यार से ही जन्म लेते हैं। इसलिए सोच-समझकर चुनिए कि आप किससे प्यार करते हैं।

Everything we do is motivated by love. Even fear and hate are born of love. So be careful what you love.

हम दूसरों की एक गलती माफ नहीं कर पाते, और इसके बावजूद ईश्वर उस दुनिया को सहन कर रहे हैं जो उनकी अपनी रचनाओं से भरी पड़ी है और जो अपनी पूरी जिंदगी पाप करने और उनका इन्कार करने में बिता देती है। फिर भी वे लगातार उन्हें भोजन, कपड़े और सुरक्षा दे रहे हैं।

We cannot tolerate one mistake from others, and yet God tolerates a planet covered with His own creation that live their entire lives sinning and denying Him, and yet continues to feed, clothe and protect them.

जब कभी आपके सामने कोई विकल्प आए, तो इस बात को याद रखिएगा: बाकी सब कुछ मिट जाएगा। आपका परिवार, आपके दोस्त, आपकी भौतिक चीजें, आपकी खूबसूरती, आपकी जवानी, आपकी जिंदगी। और अंत में सिर्फ एक ही चीज़ बचेगी। खुद से यह सवाल पूछिए: आप आखिर किसके पीछे भाग रहे हैं?

When you're faced with a choice, remember this: Everything else will pass away. Your family. Your friends. Your material possessions. Your beauty. Your youth. Your life. And there is only one thing that remains. Ask yourself: Which are you chasing?

जब मुझे ईश्वर की सबसे ज्यादा जरूरत होती है, तो वे मेरे सबसे करीब और तेजी से आते हैं। और जब मुझे इंसानों की सबसे ज्यादा जरूरत होती है, तो वे मुझसे सबसे दूर और तेजी से भागते हैं।

When I need God most, He comes to me the fastest and closest. When I need the creation most, they run from me the fastest and farthest.

हर चीज़ में कोई न कोई अर्थ छिपा होता है। पर क्या आपका ध्यान कभी इस तरफ जाता है?

There is meaning in all things. But are you paying attention?

अक्सर नमाज़ में मन न लगने पर हमें बहुत दुख होता है। याद रखिए, आप नमाज़ के बाहर अल्लाह से जितना अधिक जुड़े रहेंगे, नमाज़ के दौरान उनसे ध्यान लगाना उतना ही आसान हो जाएगा। नमाज़ में आपका ध्यान जिस बात में रहता है, वही बात नमाज़ के बाहर भी आपके मन पर छाई रहती है। इसलिए अपने पूरे दिन में जितना हो सके अपने दिल और दिमाग को अल्लाह की याद से आबाद रखिए। उनसे बातें कीजिए, लगातार उनसे दुआ कीजिए। इससे उनके साथ आपका एक गहरा और निजी रिश्ता बनेगा। फिर, नमाज़ के लिए जाना ऐसा लगेगा मानो आप किसी पुराने दोस्त के घर लौट रहे हों।

So often it hurts us that we are not able to focus in our prayers. Remember, the more you focus on Allah outside your salah, the easier it will be to focus on Him inside your salah. What occupies you in salah, is what occupies you outside of salah. Try to fill your mind and heart with Allah as much as you can throughout your day. Talk to Him, make duaa to Him constantly. This will build your personal relationship with Him. Then, going to salah will be like coming home to an old friend.

उम्मीद कभी मत छोड़िए। अल्लाह के करीब रहिए और जब भी कोई गलती हो जाए, फौरन उनकी तरफ लौट आइए। कभी भी, भूलकर भी उनकी तरफ लौटना मत छोड़िए। बार-बार तौबा कीजिए। अल्लाह के सामने गिड़गिड़ाइए। और अपनी जान से भी ज्यादा मज़बूती से उनकी याद (ज़िक्र) और नमाज़ को थामे रखिए। अगर आप ऐसा करेंगे, तो भले ही आप इस दुनिया के समंदर में थोड़े भीग जाएं, लेकिन इंशाल्लाह कभी डूबेंगे नहीं।

Never lose hope. Stay close to Allah and when you mess up, go back to Him. Never, ever stop going back to Him. Repent often. Cry to Allah. And hold on tight-with your life-to His remembrance and to prayer. If you do this, you may get wet, but insha Allah never drown in this ocean of dunya.

उस जख्म के लिए शुक्रगुजार रहिए जो आपको अल्लाह के करीब ले आता है।

Be grateful for the wound that pushes you towards God.

यह मत सोचिए कि 'धार्मिक' होने का मतलब कठोर या सख्त हो जाना है। जब अल्लाह किसी दिल में उतरते हैं, तो उसे नरम कर देते हैं—उसे सख्त नहीं बनाते।

Don't think being 'religious' means becoming harsh or hard. When Allah enters a heart, He softens it--He doesn't harden it.

मुझे लगता है कि हम सब अपने भीतर अपने ही कई रूप लेकर जीते हैं। हमारे भीतर का जो सबसे सच्चा, महान और ईमानदार रूप है, या तो उसे संवारा और सींचा जा सकता है, या फिर उपेक्षा के कारण उसे घुट-घुट कर मरने दिया जा सकता है। ज्यादातर लोग बेहतरीन चुनने के बजाय सबसे आसान रास्ता चुन लेते हैं। पर आखिरकार कौन सा रूप जीवित रहेगा, कौन सा खिलेगा और कौन सा दम तोड़ देगा, यह पूरी तरह हमारे फैसलों और हमारी जिंदगी के लोगों पर निर्भर करता है

I think we all carry within us different versions of ourselves. Our true, greatest, most honest versions of ourselves can either be developed and nourished, or it can remain dead from neglect. Most people opt for the easiest version rather than the best. But in the end which version lives, which version thrives and which version dies, depends on the choices we make and the people in our lives.

जब आपके दोस्त हों, तो यह उम्मीद मत रखिए कि वे आपके खालीपन को भर देंगे। जब आपकी शादी हो जाए, तो अपने जीवनसाथी से यह उम्मीद मत रखिए कि वह आपकी हर जरूरत पूरी करेगा। जब आप किसी आंदोलन से जुड़े हों, तो परिणामों से अपनी उम्मीदें न जोड़ें। जब आप मुसीबत में हों, तो खुद पर भरोसा न करें। लोगों पर भरोसा न करें। सिर्फ अल्लाह पर भरोसा करें।

When you have friends, don’t expect your friends to fill your emptiness. When you get married, don’t expect your spouse to fulfill your every need. When you’re an activist, don’t put your hope in the results. When you’re in trouble don’t depend on yourself. Don’t depend on people. Depend on God.

जो कुछ दुनिया को दे दिया जाता है, वह हमेशा के लिए खो जाता है। और जो अल्लाह के रास्ते में दे दिया जाता है, वह कभी नहीं खोता। अगर आप अपनी प्यारी चीज़ को उस चीज़ की खातिर कुर्बान कर देते हैं जिससे अल्लाह प्यार करते हैं, तो जो आपको सबसे प्यारा है, वह हमेशा के लिए आपका हो जाएगा।

What's given to dunya is lost forever. What's given to Allah is never lost. If you give what you love, for the sake of what He loves, you'll have what you love forever.

गुलाब के मुरझाने के साथ और उसके हर गिरते हुए पत्ते के साथ, अल्लाह हमें यह याद दिला रहा है कि यहाँ सब कुछ फानी है यानी मिट जाने वाला है। वे हमें यह याद दिला रहे हैं कि इस दुनिया में अल्लाह के सिवा कुछ भी बाकी नहीं रहेगा।

With the withering of the rose, and with each fallen petal, Allah is reminding us that everything here is passing away. He is reminding us that nothing in this world will remain, except for Allah.

यह दुनिया बिल्कुल परफेक्ट नहीं है। इसका मतलब यह नहीं है कि यह पूरी तरह अच्छी है; पर इसका यह मतलब भी नहीं है कि यह पूरी तरह बुरी है। हर मुश्किल के साथ आसानी भी जुड़ी होती है। आप जिस नजरिए से चीजों को देखते हैं, उसे बदलिए, इस जिंदगी को देखने का आपका अनुभव खुद-ब-खुद बदल जाएगा।

This world isn't perfect. That means it isn't perfectly good; but it isn't perfectly bad, either. The ease comes with the hardship. Shift the focus of what you see, and your experience of this life will change.

दुआ करते रहिए, भले ही आपके पास फुसफुसाने भर की ही ताकत क्यों न बची हो।

Keep praying, even if you have only a whisper left.

आपने अपना सिर जमीन पर रख दिया, और उस एक पल में सब कुछ ठीक हो गया।

You put your head on the ground, and in that moment everything was okay.

मैं यहाँ किसी नुमाइश के लिए नहीं हूँ। और मेरा शरीर जनता के उपभोग के वस्तु नहीं है। मैं कोई ऐसी चीज नहीं जिसे किसी वस्तु की तरह या जूते बेचने के लिए पैरों के रूप में पेश किया जाए। मैं एक रूह हूँ, एक दिमाग हूँ, अल्लाह की एक बंदी हूँ। मेरी कीमत मेरे दिल की खूबसूरती, मेरी आत्मा और मेरे नैतिक चरित्र से तय होती है। इसलिए मैं आपके खूबसूरती के पैमानों की पूजा नहीं करती, और न ही आपके फैशन के आगे झुकती हूँ। मेरा झुकाव किसी उच्चतर सत्ता के आगे है।

I'm not here to be on display. And my body is not for public consumption. I will not be reduced to an object, or a pair of legs to sell shoes. I'm a soul, a mind, a servant of God. My worth is defined by the beauty of my soul, my heart, my moral character. So I won't worship your beauty standards, and I don't submit to your fashion sense. My submission is to something higher.

एक औरत के रूप में मेरी कीमत मेरी कमर के साइज या मुझे चाहने वाले पुरुषों की संख्या से नहीं मापी जाती। एक इंसान के रूप में मेरी कीमत एक ऊंचे पैमाने पर तौली जाती है: नेकी और परहेज़गारी का पैमाना। और फैशन पत्रिकाओं के विपरीत, मेरी जिंदगी का मकसद पुरुषों के सामने सुंदर दिखने से कहीं ज्यादा बुलंद है।

My value as a woman is not measured by the size of my waist or the number of men who like me. My worth as a human being is measured on a higher scale: a scale of righteousness and piety. And my purpose in life-despite what fashion magazines say-is something more sublime than just looking good for men.

आपकी खूबसूरती आपकी संवेदनशीलता में है। इसे किसी को भी आपसे छीनने मत दीजिए।

Your beauty is in your sensitivity. Don't let anyone take it from you

अक्सर हम जिंदगी में बहुत सी चीज़ों से गुजरते हैं, पर उनके बीच का आपसी रिश्ता कभी नहीं देख पाते। जब हम पर कोई मुसीबत आती है या हमें कोई दर्द महसूस होता है, तो हम शायद ही कभी इस बात पर गौर करते हैं कि यह अनुभव किसी दूसरे काम या अनुभव का सीधा नतीजा हो सकता है। कभी-कभी हम अपनी जिंदगी के दर्द और अल्लाह ताला के साथ हमारे रिश्ते के बीच की सीधी कड़ी को पहचान नहीं पाते।

So often we experience things in life, and yet never see the connections between them. When we are given hardship, or feel pain, we often fail to consider that the experience may be the direct cause or result of another action or experience. Sometimes we fail to recognize the direct connection between the pain in our lives and our relationship with Allah SWT

अपने दिल को अपने सीने से बाहर निकाल लो। और इसे अल्लाह के हवाले कर do। इसके सिवा और कोई इलाज नहीं है। मैं कसम खाती हूँ, इसके सिवा सुकून पाने का कोई दूसरा रास्ता नहीं है।

Tear your heart out of your chest. And hand it to God. There is no other healing. I swear, there is no other healing

इससे पहले कि कोई चीज़ आपका दिल तोड़ सके, जरूरी है कि वह आपके दिल पर कब्जा कर ले। अपने दिल को दुनिया के हवाले करना बंद कर दीजिए—यह उसका टूटना बंद हो जाएगा।

Before anything can break your heart, it must first own your heart. Stop handing your heart to dunya-it'll stop breaking it.

बहुत साल पहले, हमारे पिता इब्राहिम (अलैहिस्सलाम) ने एक चुनाव किया था। वह अपने बेटे से प्यार करते थे। लेकिन वह अल्लाह से उससे भी ज्यादा प्यार करते थे। अपने बेटे की कुर्बानी देने का हुक्म आया था। लेकिन कत्ल उनके बेटे का नहीं हुआ। कत्ल तो उस मोह का हुआ जो अल्लाह के प्यार के आड़े आ रहा था। तो आइए कुर्बानी के इन खूबसूरत दिनों में हम खुद से यह सवाल पूछें कि हमें अपने अंदर किस मोह और किस जुड़ाव की कुर्बानी देने की जरूरत है?

Many years ago, our father Ibrahim (AS) made a choice. He loved his son. But He loved God more. The commandment came to sacrifice his son. But it wasn't his son that was slaughtered. It was his attachment to anything that could compete with his love for God. So let us ask ourselves in these beautiful days of sacrifice, which attachments do we need to slaughter?

एक मुस्लिम महिला होने के नाते, मुझे एक ऐसी खामोश गुलामी से आजादी मिली है जो घुटन भरी थी। मैं धरती पर अल्लाह के गुलामों को जवाबदेह नहीं हूँ। मैं उनके बादशाह (अल्लाह) के सामने जवाबदेह हूँ।

As a Muslim woman, I’ve been liberated from a silent kind of bondage. I don’t answer to the slaves of God on earth. I answer to their King.

मौत के वक्त आपकी जुबान वही बोलेगी जो आपके दिल में होगा। 'ला इलाहा इल्लल्लाह' कहने के लिए, आपको इसे अपनी जिंदगी में जीना होगा।

At the time of death your tongue will speak only what is in the heart.To say la illaha illa Allah, you must live it.

ऐसे लोगों की तलाश कीजिए जो कभी परवाह करना बंद नहीं करते, जो आपकी बनाई दीवारों को गिरा देते हैं, और आपको खुद से वापस मिलाने में मदद करते हैं।

Seek the ones who never stop caring, who break down your walls, and help you come back to yourself

मेरी हँसी हमेशा नहीं रहेगी, लेकिन मेरे आँसू भी सदा के लिए नहीं रहेंगे। हम कहते हैं कि यह जिंदगी परफेक्ट नहीं है। और यह है भी नहीं। यह पूरी तरह अच्छी नहीं है। पर यह है कि, यह पूरी तरह बुरी भी नहीं है।

My laughter won't last forever but neither will my tears. We say this life isn't perfect. And it isn't. It isn't perfectly good. But, it also isn't perfectly bad, either.

अपने अतीत के अनुभवों से सीखिए, लेकिन उन्हें कभी भी अपनी सीमा मत बनने दीजिए और न ही खुद को उनसे परिभाषित होने दीजिए।

Let your former selves teach you, but never limit or define you

आपकी इबादत अल्लाह के लिए आपकी तरफ से कोई तोहफा नहीं है। बल्कि यह अल्लाह की तरफ से आपके लिए एक तोहफा है।

Your worship is not a gift from you to God. It is a gift from God to you.

ये बात जान लो कि कभी-कभी बदलाव की शुरुआत एक ठोकर या गिरने से होती है। इसलिए अपने गिरने पर कभी मत पछताओ, न ही उसे कोसो। ज़मीन ही वो जगह है जहाँ विनम्रता बसती है। इसे अपनाओ, इसे सीखो, इसे अपने भीतर उतार लो। और फिर पहले से ज़्यादा मज़बूत, ज़्यादा विनम्र और रब की मोहताJजी को और गहराई से महसूस करते हुए वापस लौटो। अपनी बेबसी और उसकी अज़मत को अपनी आँखों से देखकर लौट आओ।

Know that transformation sometimes begins with a fall. So never curse the fall. The ground is where humility lives. Take it. Learn it. Breathe it in. And then come back stronger, humbler and more aware of your need for Him. Come back having seen your own nothingness and His greatness.

मुझसे झूठ मत बोलो। मुझे धोखे में मत रखो। मुझे सच बताओ। भले ही वो सच मुझे अंदर से तोड़कर रख दे। मीठे झूठ से कहीं बेहतर एक दर्दनाक सच होता है।

Don't lie to me. Don't deceive me. Give me the truth. Even if it breaks me. A painful truth is better than a pleasant lie.

जब आपको किसी कलाकृति से प्यार हो जाता है, तो आप उस कलाकार से मिलने के लिए अपनी जान देने को तैयार हो जाते हैं। मैं प्रशांत महासागर के डूबते सूरज, समंदर पर उगते पूरे चाँद, हवाई जहाज़ से दिखते बादलों, रैले (Raleigh) के शरद ऋतु के जंगलों और पहली बर्फबारी की गैलरी का एक मुसाफिर छात्र हूँ। और मैं उस कलाकार से मिलने के लिए बेचैन हूँ।

When you fall in love with a work of art, you’d die to meet the artist. I am a student of the galleries of Pacific sunsets, full moon rises on the ocean, the clouds from an airplane, autumn forests in Raleigh, first fallen snows. And I’m dying to meet the artist.

यह दुनिया समंदर जैसी है और हमारा दिल एक कश्ती की तरह। अगर कश्ती के अंदर पानी घुसने दिया जाए, तो वह डूब जाती है। बिल्कुल वैसे ही, जब हम इस दुनिया को अपने दिल में उतरने की इजाजत दे देते हैं।

The Dunya is like the ocean and our heart is like the ship. If a ship allows the water to enter, it will sink. Just like when we allow the Dunya to enter our heart.

तुम लोगों को माफ़ करने से इनकार करते हो, जबकि कयामत के दिन तुम बिल्कुल बेसहारा खड़े होकर अल्लाह से अपनी मग़फ़िरत की भीख माँग रहे होंगे।

You refuse to forgive people, and yet on the Day of Judgment you will stand bare, begging Allah to forgive you.

अगर तुम लोगों की मोहब्बत पाना चाहते हो, तो उसके पीछे भागना बंद कर दो। जितना ज़्यादा तुम इसके पीछे भागोगे, यह तुमसे उतनी ही दूर होती जाएगी। मोहब्बत इंसानों से नहीं मिलती, वह तो सिर्फ खुदा से मिलती है।

If you want the love of the people, stop running after it. The more you chase it, the more it escapes you. Love doesn't come from the people. It comes from God.

कुछ लोगों के लिए इस्लाम नियमों और कानूनों की एक किताब से बढ़कर कुछ नहीं है। लेकिन जो लोग इसे समझते हैं, उनके लिए यह जीवन का एक बेहतरीन नज़रिया है।

To some,Islam is nothing but a code of rules and regulations.But,to those who understand,it is a perfect vision of life

जिन लोगों और जगहों से आप प्यार करते हैं, उन्हें छोड़कर जाना इस बात की याद दिलाता है कि यह दुनिया हमेशा रहने वाली नहीं है। और अगली दुनिया ही शाश्वत है।

Leaving the people and places you love, is a reminder of the impermanence of this life. And the permanence of the next.

आज आपको रुतबा मिला है, लेकिन यह कभी मत भूलिए कि आप कहाँ से आए हैं। आप मिट्टी से बने हैं और मिट्टी में ही लौट जाएँगे। उस दिन आप बिल्कुल वैसे ही होंगे जैसे शुरुआत में थे: सिर्फ आप और आपका रब।

You've been given status today, but never forget where you came from. You came from dirt and will return to dirt. You will be on that day as you began: just you and Him.

कोमल और मज़बूत, इन दोनों गुणों का एक साथ होना एक ऐसा हुनर है जो बहुत कम लोग ही सीख पाते हैं।

Being both soft and strong is a combination very few have mastered.

यह दुनिया आपको तब तक नहीं तोड़ सकती—जब तक कि आप उसे इसकी इजाजत न दें। और यह तब तक आप पर हावी नहीं हो सकती जब तक आप खुद इसकी चाबी इसके हाथ में न थमा दें—जब तक कि आप अपना दिल इसे न सौंप दें। इसलिए, अगर आपने कुछ समय के लिए दुनिया को ये चाबियाँ सौंप भी दी हैं—तो उन्हें वापस छीन लीजिए। यह अंत नहीं है। आपको यहीं हार मानकर नहीं मरना है। अपने दिल को वापस लो और इसे इसके असली हकदार: यानी खुदा के हवाले कर दो।

This world cannot break you—unless you give it permission. And it cannot own you unless you hand it the keys—unless you give it your heart. And so, if you have handed those keys to dunya for a while—take them back. This isn’t the End. You don’t have to die here. Reclaim your heart and place it with its rightful owner: God.

मुश्किलों से डटकर मुकाबला करना और अंदर से सुन्न या शून्य हो जाना, दोनों में बहुत अंतर है। मज़बूती का मतलब है कि आप ज़िंदगी को जीते हैं, महसूस करते हैं, असफल होते हैं, दर्द सहते हैं, गिरते हैं। पर आप रुकते नहीं, आगे बढ़ते रहते हैं।

Resilience is very different than being numb. Resilience means you experience, you feel, you fail, you hurt. You fall. But, you keep going.

अगर आप किसी चीज़ को खत्म करना चाहते हैं, तो उस पर ध्यान देना बंद कर दीजिए। यह नियम अच्छी और बुरी दोनों चीज़ों पर लागू होता है। किसी रिश्ते की उपेक्षा करें, वह खत्म हो जाता है। अपने ईमान की उपेक्षा करें, वह कमज़ोर पड़ जाता है। लेकिन यही सिद्धांत किसी विचार या इच्छा जैसी चीज़ को मिटाने पर भी लागू होता है। उस पर ध्यान देना बंद कर दीजिए, वह खुद-ब-खुद खत्म हो जाएगा।

If you want to kill something, neglect it. It happens in both good and bad. Neglect a relationship, it dies. Neglect your iman, it dies. But the same principal applies when you want to kill something like a thought or a desire. Neglect it, it dies.

अपने गिरने या हार पर कभी मलाल मत करना। ज़मीन ही वो जगह है जहाँ इंसान की विनम्रता पलती है।

Never curse a fall. The ground is where humility lives.

जब दर्द आपको पूरी तरह घेर ले, तो अपने अंदर झाँकिए। अपने टूटे हुए टुकड़ों को समेटिए और उन्हें खुदा के हवाले कर दीजिए। उससे कहिए कि वह आपके दिल को फिर से नया बना दे। इस बार कुछ अलग... ज़्यादा मज़बूत, ज़्यादा खूबसूरत। कारीगर इसी तरह हमें बनाता है, और ज़रूरत पड़ने पर संवारता भी है।

When the pain overtakes you, reach inside. Gather the broken pieces, and hand them to God. Ask Him to remake your heart. Different, this time. Stronger. More beautiful. This is how we are made, and remade by the Maker.

अपनी ज़िंदगी के उन पैटर्न्स का अध्ययन कीजिए जो आपको ठेस पहुँचाते हैं। और फिर उन्हें कभी न दोहराएँ।

Study the hurtful patterns of your life. Then don't repeat them.

तवक्कुल (भरोसा) अंगों या शरीर की कोई क्रिया नहीं है—यह दिल का मामला है। इसलिए जब आपके हाथ-पैर मेहनत में जुटे होते हैं, तब आपका दिल पूरी तरह अल्लाह पर निर्भर होता है। इसका मतलब यह है कि शरीर की मेहनत का जो भी नतीजा निकले, दिल पूरी तरह संतुष्ट रहता है, यह जानते हुए कि यह अल्लाह का एक बेहतरीन फैसला है। लेकिन इस मकाम तक पहुँचने के लिए, इंसान को उम्मीद का दामन थामना होगा, मेहनत करनी होगी और दिल से सब कुछ अल्लाह पर छोड़ देना होगा।

Tawwakul is not an act of the limbs-it is an act of the heart. And so while the limbs are striving hard, the heart is completely reliant on Allah. This means whatever the outcome of the limbs' striving, the heart will be completely satisfied, knowing that it is the flawless decision of Allah. But in order to reach this level, one must hold on to hope, strive with the limbs, and let go with the heart.

जब आप मुसीबत में हों तो खुद पर भरोसा न करें। लोगों पर भी निर्भर न रहें। सिर्फ खुदा पर भरोसा रखें।

When you're in trouble don't depend on yourself. Don't depend on people. Depend on God.

आपको ऐसा महसूस करने में परेशानी होती है कि आप ज़िंदा हैं, इसलिए सिर्फ कुछ महसूस करने के लिए आप अपने ही दिल में खंजर घोंप देते हैं। यह वह खालीपन था जो आपको अंदर से मार रहा था। उस खालीपन को भरने के लिए आपने खुद ही अपने अंदर उदासी और डर पैदा कर लिया।

You have trouble feeling alive, so you stab your own heart just to feel something. It was the emptiness that was killing you. You created the sadness and the fear to fill it.

अगर आप दुनिया को अपने दिल पर कब्जा करने की इजाजत दे देंगे, तो जैसे समंदर कश्ती को अपने वश में कर लेता है, यह भी आप पर पूरी तरह हावी हो जाएगी। आप समंदर की गहराइयों में डूबते चले जाएँगे। आप समंदर की तली को छू लेंगे।

If you allow dunya to own your heart, like the ocean that owns the boat, it will take over. You will sink down to the depths of the sea. You will touch the ocean floor.

अपना काम पूरी ईमानदारी से कीजिए, लेकिन अपनी किस्मत की स्टीयरिंग खुद संभालने की जिद छोड़ दीजिए। आप इसके मालिक नहीं हैं।

Do your part, but stop trying to steer your destiny. You're not in charge.

अपने जीवनसाथी से यह उम्मीद मत रखिए कि वह एकदम परफेक्ट होगा। वह इस दुनिया में अपने इंसान रूप में है। उनका 'परफेक्ट' रूप तो जन्नत के लिए सुरक्षित रखा गया है।

Don't expect your spouse to be perfect. He/she is only the dunya version of themselves. Their 'perfect' version is saved for jennah.

यह मत कहिए कि इस धरती पर बिताया गया हर दिन मौत के एक कदम करीब जाना है। इस धरती पर बिताया गया हर दिन असल में जीने के एक कदम करीब पहुँचना है।

Do not say that every day you spend on this earth is a day closer to dying. Every day you spend on this earth is a day closer to finally living.

कभी-कभी लोगों के पास कहने के लिए कुछ नहीं होता क्योंकि वे अंदर से पूरी तरह खाली होते हैं। और कभी-कभी लोगों के पास कहने के लिए इसलिए कुछ नहीं होता क्योंकि उनके दिल और दिमाग में विचारों का सैलाब उमड़ रहा होता है।

Sometimes people have nothing to say because they're too empty. And sometimes people have nothing to say because they're too full.

मुश्किलें और परेशानियाँ हमारे रब के साथ हमारे टूटे हुए रिश्ते की पहचान भी बन सकती हैं और उसके ठीक होने का जरिया भी।

Times of hardship can act as both an indicator, as well as a cure, for our broken relationship with our Creator.

लोग कहते हैं कि जब तक आपको कोई बेहतर इंसान या चीज़ न मिल जाए, तब तक आप किसी को भुला नहीं पाते। इंसान होने के नाते, हम खालीपन को बर्दाश्त नहीं कर पाते। कोई भी खाली जगह तुरंत भर जानी चाहिए। खालीपन का दर्द इतना ज़्यादा होता है कि वह इंसान को उस जगह को भरने के लिए मजबूर कर देता है। उस खालीपन के साथ एक पल बिताना भी असहनीय दर्द देता है। यही वजह है कि हम एक भटकाव से दूसरे भटकाव और एक लगाव से दूसरे लगाव की तरफ भागते रहते हैं।

They say you don't get over someone until you find someone or something better. As humans, we don't deal well with emptiness. Any empty space must be filled. Immediately. The pain of emptiness is too strong. It compels the victim to fill that place. A single moment with that empty spot causes excruciating pain. That's why we run from distraction to distraction and from attachment to attachment.

मोहब्बत आपको तड़पाने के लिए नहीं होती। अगर ऐसा हो रहा है, तो समझ लीजिए कि कुछ न कुछ गलत ज़रूर है।

Love isn't supposed to torment you. If it does, there's probably something wrong.

आप एक ही समय में एक से ज़्यादा दिशाओं में नहीं दौड़ सकते। और आप सिर्फ उसी दिशा में दौड़ेंगे जिस तरफ आपका मुँह होगा। इसलिए अगर आपका दिल अल्लाह के अलावा किसी और की तरफ है, तो आप उसकी तरफ नहीं दौड़ रहे हैं।

You can’t run in more than one direction at a time. And you will only run in the direction you are facing. So if your heart is facing anything other than Allah, it isn’t Him you’re running towards.

मुसाफिर पानी मिलने से पहले कई मरुस्थलों और धोखों से होकर गुजरता है।

The traveler walks through many mirages before he finds water.

सच्ची मोहब्बत सुकून लाती है—दिल की बेचैनी नहीं। सच्ची मोहब्बत आपको अपने आप से और खुदा के साथ शांति से जीना सिखाती है। इसीलिए अल्लाह फरमाता है: "ताकि तुम उसमें सुकून पा सको।" इसके विपरीत 'हवा' (अनियंत्रित इच्छाएँ) है। 'हवा' आपको हमेशा दुखी रखेगी। और नशे की तरह, आपको इसकी हमेशा तलब रहेगी, लेकिन आप कभी संतुष्ट नहीं होंगे। आप इसके पीछे इस हद तक भागेंगे कि अपना नुकसान कर बैठेंगे, पर इसे कभी पा नहीं सकेंगे।

Real love brings about calm-not inner torment. True love allows you to be at peace with yourself and with God. That is why Allah says: “that you may dwell in tranquility.” Hawa is the opposite. Hawa will make you miserable. And just like a drug, you will crave it always, but never be satisfied. You will chase it to your own detriment, but never reach it.

زہر ایک ساتھ نہیں، بلکہ قطرہ قطرہ اترتا ہے۔ صبر رکھو، تم شفایاب ہو رہے ہو۔

The poison leaves bit by bit, not all at once. Be patient. You are healing.

اگر تمہیں لگتا ہے کہ تم اللہ سے اتنے دور ہو چکے ہو کہ اب واپسی ممکن نہیں، اور تمہارا ماضی تمہارا پیچھا نہیں چھوڑ رہا، تو بس یہ یاد رکھو کہ ملک بن دینار (رحمہ اللہ) ایک شرابی تھے، اور عمر (رضی اللہ عنہ) نبی کریم ﷺ کو قتل کرنے کے ارادے سے نکلے تھے—مگر پھر یہی دونوں روئے زمین کی عظیم ترین ہستیوں میں سے ایک بن گئے!

If you think you're too far from Allah to return, and your 'past' continues to own you, just remember that Malik ibn Dinar (RA) was an alcoholic, and Omar (RA) was on his way to assassinate the Prophet (pbuh) before they became two of the greatest souls to walk the earth!

نقصان دراصل اس امانت کی واپسی ہے جو کبھی حقیقت میں ہماری تھی ہی نہیں۔

Loss; is the returning of what never actually belonged to us in the first place.

ہم میں سے اکثر لوگ اپنی اس خوش فہمی پر بھروسا کرتے ہیں کہ سب کچھ ہمارے قابو میں ہے۔ لیکن جب اللہ آپ پر یہ ظاہر کر دے کہ اس کشتی کا اصل ناخدا آپ نہیں ہیں، تو اس کا شکر ادا کریں۔ اس نے آپ کی اس غلط فہمی کو مٹا دیا ہے اور آپ کو مجبور کر دیا ہے کہ آپ صرف اسی پر بھروسا کریں۔

Many of us rely on our own illusion of control. But when God makes it known to you that you're not the one steering the ship, be thankful. He has removed the illusion, and forced you to rely only on Him.

اے میرے دل، محبت کرنے کا ایک اور راستہ بھی ہے۔ تحفے سے محض اس لیے محبت نہ کرو کہ وہ کیا ہے، بلکہ اس ذات کی خاطر محبت کرو جس کی طرف سے وہ تحفہ آیا ہے۔

Oh my heart, there is another way to love. Do not love the gift for what the gift is. Love the gift for Who it came from.

اللہ مجھے خود کو ڈھانپنے، اپنی خوبصورتی چھپانے اور دنیا کو یہ بتانے کا حکم دیتا ہے کہ میں یہاں مردوں کو اپنے جسم سے لبھانے کے لیے نہیں آئی، بلکہ اللہ کو راضی کرنے کے لیے آئی ہوں۔ اللہ نے عورت کے جسم کو ڈھانپنے اور اس کا احترام لازمی قرار دے کر اس کے وقار کو بلند کیا ہے، تاکہ وہ صرف اسی کے سامنے ظاہر ہو جو اس کا حقدار ہے—یعنی میرا ہمسفر۔

God tells me to cover myself, to hide my beauty and to tell the world that I’m not here to please men with my body; I’m here to please God. God elevates the dignity of a woman’s body by commanding that it be respected and covered, shown only to the deserving - only to the man I marry.

کچھ وقت کے لیے یہ دنیا ہمارے اور ہمارے پیاروں کے درمیان حائل ہو جاتی ہے۔ لیکن اگر ہم نے صبر کیا، تو جب یہ فانی دنیا ختم ہو جائے گی، پھر کبھی جدائی نہیں ہوگی۔

Sometimes this world comes between us and what we love. But if we are patient, when this world passes away, there will be no more separation.

اللہ کسی چیز سے محروم کرنے کے لیے محروم نہیں کرتا۔ اصل مقصد تو دل کی تعمیر نو ہوتا ہے۔ اور دل کو از سر نو سنوارنے کے لیے، وہ کبھی کبھار پہلے اسے توڑتا ہے۔

Allah does not withhold to withhold. Remaking the heart was the objective. To remake it, He sometimes breaks it first.

کئی بار ہم دنیا کے کسی دروازے کے کھلنے کی دعا کرتے ہیں۔ اور جب وہ نہیں کھلتا تو ہم رو پڑتے ہیں۔ ہم یہ نہیں جانتے کہ اللہ نے اس کے بدلے ہمارے لیے جنت کا ایک دروازہ کھول رکھا ہے۔

Sometimes we make duaa for a door of dunya. When it doesn't open, we cry. Not realizing that Allah has instead opened a door of jennah for us.

مشکلات کا وقت ہمارے ایمان، حوصلے اور طاقت کا امتحان لیتا ہے۔ انہی لمحات میں ہمارے ایمان کا اصل درجہ آشکار ہوتا ہے۔

Time of difficulty test our faith, our fortitude and our strenght. During these times, the level of our imaan becomes manifest

تم لوگوں کے دلوں کی خبر لو، اللہ تمہارے دل کی خود دیکھ بھال کرے گا۔

Take care of the hearts of the people, and Allāh will take care of your heart

اے ظاہری عبادت گزار، یہ جان لے کہ دل کے بغیر کی جانے والی عبادت محض چند حرکتیں ہیں۔ اے طالبِ علم، یہ جان لے کہ نفس کی تطہیر کے بغیر حاصل ہونے والا علم انا کا ایک خطرناک ہتھیار ہے۔ اے کارکن، یہ جان لے کہ دل کی درست سمت کے بغیر کیا گیا کام بے پھل ہے۔ اور اے عشق کرنے والے، یہ جان لے کہ خدا کے بغیر محبت سراسر درد ہے۔

Oh external worshiper, know that worship without heart is motions. Oh seeker of knowledge, know that knowledge without purification is a dangerous weapon of the ego. Oh activist, know that work without orientation of heart is fruitless. Oh lover, know that love without God is pain.

کچھ زنجیریں اندر کی ہوتی ہیں اور کچھ باہر کی۔ دنیا کی کوئی بھی بیرونی زنجیر آپ کو غلام نہیں بنا سکتی اگر آپ اندر سے آزاد ہیں۔ اور دنیا کی کوئی بھی بیرونی 'آزادی' آپ کو آزاد نہیں کر سکتی اگر آپ اندر سے قید ہیں۔ سب کچھ چھوڑ دو، تبھی تم حقیقی آزادی کو جان پاؤ گے۔

There are internal chains and external chains. All the external chains in the world won't enslave you, if you are free inside. And all the external 'freedom' in the world won't liberate you, if you are chained inside. Let go. And you'll know Freedom.

اپنے جسم کے وہاں پہنچنے سے پہلے ہی اپنے دل کو اس کے اصل گھر روانہ کر دو۔

Let your heart go Home, even before your body arrives.

جب تمہاری ناکامیاں تمہیں گھیر لیں اور تمام کھلے دروازے بند ہو جائیں، تو نگاہیں اٹھا کر اوپر دیکھو۔ وہاں ایک ایسا دروازہ بھی ہے جو کبھی بند نہیں ہوتا، ایک ایسا راستہ جو اس وقت بھی کھلتا ہے جب دنیا کے تمام راستے بند ہو جائیں۔

When your failures surround you, and all the open doors have closed, look up. There’s a door that never closes, a way, when all the other ways have failed you.

میرا نفس اپنی خواہشات کے لیے چیختا ہے، لیکن میری آزادی کی چاہ اس سے کہیں بلند آواز میں پکارتی ہے۔

My Nafs screams out for what it desires. But my will to be free screams louder.

تمہارے دل میں یہ جو درد ہے، یہ اس لیے پیدا کیا گیا ہے تاکہ تمہاری اس فانی دنیا سے دل چسپی کم ہو اور جنت کی تڑپ بڑھ جائے۔ اللہ اکبر!

This pain in your heart was created to make you yearn less for this life. And to yearn more for jennah. Allahu akbar

کچھ لوگ کبھی کبھار ہماری زندگی میں آتے ہیں اور اس احساسِ تنہائی کو کم کر دیتے ہیں جو اپنے گھر سے دور ہونے پر ہمیں ستاتا ہے۔

Once in a while, people enter our lives and lessen the loneliness of being away from Home.

اس دن ہمیں اصل حقیقت نظر آئے گی۔ اس دن ہمیں معلوم ہو گا کہ نماز کی دو رکعتیں زمین اور آسمان کی ہر چیز سے بڑھ کر تھیں۔ ہمیں اس انمول تحفے کا احساس ہو گا جو ہر رات ہم سوتے وقت اپنے دروازے پر چھوڑ جاتے ہیں۔ وہ دن بھی آئے گا جب ہم آسمان کے نیچے موجود ہر شے قربان کرنے کو تیار ہوں گے، محض اس لیے کہ ہمیں ایک بار واپس جانے اور وہ دو رکعتیں پڑھنے کا موقع مل جائے۔

On that Day, we will see the true reality. On that Day, we will realize that two rak`at (units) of prayer were greater than everything in the heavens and the earth. We will realize the priceless check that was left on our doorstep every night as we slept. There will come a day when we would give up everything under the sky just to come back and pray those two rak`at.

جب تم خالق کے ساتھ اپنا رشتہ سنوار لیتے ہو، تو وہ مخلوق کے ساتھ تمہارے تمام رشتے سنوار دیتا ہے۔

When you Rectify your Relationship with the Creator, He Rectifies your relationship with All of the Creation.

موسیٰ کی طرح تم بھی اس سمندر سے بچا لیے جاؤ گے۔ بس اس کے پار دیکھو اور اسے پہچان لو۔ پھر یہ سب فریب بکھر جائے گا اور تمہارے پاس صرف ایک ہی حقیقت بچے گی—وہی ذات!

Like Musa you too will be saved from the Sea. Just look through it and see Him. Then the illusion will crumble and you'll be left with the only Reality: Him.

کیا وہ ذات جو مردہ زمین کو زندگی بخشتی ہے، مردہ دلوں کو زندہ نہیں کر سکتی؟

Can not the One who gives life to dead land, give life to dead hearts?

ہمدردی یہ ہے کہ تم اپنے ذاتی درد سے باہر نکل کر دوسروں کے درد کو دیکھو۔

Compassion is to look beyond your own pain, to see the pain of others.

ہم سے پوچھا جائے گا، "تم نے اس دنیا میں سب سے زیادہ کس چیز سے محبت کی؟ تم نے اپنی زندگی کیا کرنے میں گزار دی؟ تم کس چیز کے پیچھے بھاگتے رہے؟ کیا وہ باقی رہنے والی چیز تھی؟ جن چیزوں کے تم پیچھے بھاگے، کیا وہ ہمیشہ ساتھ نبھائیں گی؟ جب اس فانی دنیا کا فریب ختم ہو جائے گا، تو کیا یہ چیزیں تمہاری مدد کریں گی یا تمہیں نقصان پہنچائیں گی؟"

We will be asked, "what did you love most in this world? What did you spend life doing? What did you run after? Will it last? The things that you chased, will they last? Will they help you, or will they hurt you when the illusion of this life has passed?"

ٹوٹے ہوئے دل کو جوڑنے کا سب سے تیز طریقہ یہ ہے کہ کسی بہتر ہستی سے دل لگایا جائے اور محبت کو بڑھایا جائے۔ یہ جان لو کہ بعض اوقات دل کا ٹوٹنا صرف اس لیے ہوتا ہے تاکہ وہ تمہیں اللہ کے قریب کر دے۔

The fastest way to heal a broken heart is to find someone better to love, and love more. Know that sometimes heartbreak happens just to push you to God.

اپنے اصل گھر لوٹنے کی تیاری کرو اور اس کا انتظار رکھو۔ مگر اس بات کو یقینی بناؤ کہ تم اس گھر کو سجا بھی رہے ہو۔

Look forward to going back Home. But make sure you're furnishing it.

اس دنیا کی ہر چیز اصل حقیقت کی محض ایک جھلک ہے۔ محبت، حسن، لذت، یہاں تک کہ درد بھی اپنی اصل شکل میں صرف اگلی دنیا میں ہی ملے گا۔

Everything in this life is only a glimpse of the real thing. Love, beauty, pleasure, even pain in its true essence is only in the next.

لوگ یہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ ہمارا دماغ ہمیں چلاتا ہے۔ جبکہ حقیقت میں دل ہمیں چلاتा ہے۔ دماغ تو دل کا غلام ہے۔ اس لیے اپنے دل کی حالت کا جائزہ لیتے رہو۔

People think it's the mind that drives us. It is the heart. The mind is a slave to the heart. So check the condition of the heart.

یہ کتنی حیرت کی بات ہے کہ کتنے ہی لوگ یہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ آزمائشیں اللہ کی طرف سے کوئی سزا ہوتی ہیں! حالانکہ ہر آزمائش آپ کے لیے بہتر ہے—بشرطیکہ وہ آپ کو اس کے قریب کر دے!

Its shocking how many people believe hardships are a punishment from God! Every hardship is good for you-if it brings you closer to Him!

ہمیں اکثر یہ لگتا ہے کہ اللہ صرف سختیوں سے ہی ہمارا امتحان لیتا ہے، لیکن یہ سچ نہیں۔ اللہ آسانیوں سے بھی آزماتا ہے۔ وہ ہمیں نعمتوں اور ان چیزوں سے آزماتا ہے جن سے ہم محبت کرتے ہیں، اور اکثر ہم انہی آزمائشوں میں ناکام ہو جاتے ہیں۔ ہم اس لیے ناکام ہوتے ہیں کیونکہ جب اللہ ہمیں یہ نعمتیں عطا کرتا ہے، تو ہم نادانستہ طور پر انہیں اپنے دل میں بت بنا بیٹھتے ہیں۔

So often we think that Allah only tests us with hardships, but this isn't true. Allah also tests with ease. He tests us with na`im (blessings) and with the things we love, and it is often in these tests that so many of us fail. We fail because when Allah gives us these blessings, we unwittingly turn them into false idols in the heart.

मुझमें जो भी खूबी है, वो सिर्फ उसी की परछाई है, और जो भी कमी है, वो मेरा अपना अक्से-रंग है।

Any beauty you see in me is only a reflection of Him, any ugliness, a reflection of my self.

ज़indagi को और ख़ुदा की दी हुई हर नेमत को गले लगाओ—लेकिन कभी खुद को उसमें कैद मत होने देना। यह दुनिया तुम्हें समेटने के लिए बहुत छोटी है।

Embrace life and all that God gives you-but never let it contain you. This world is too small to contain you.

माना कि दिल टूट जाता है, पर यह संभल भी जाता है।

Yes, the heart breaks. But, it also heals.

नेकी करने पर उम्मीद यह नहीं बढ़ जानी चाहिए कि मैंने बहुत अच्छा काम किया है, और गुनाह होने पर उम्मीद यह नहीं घट जानी चाहिए कि अब कुछ नहीं हो सकता। नेकी पर मेरी उम्मीद यह होती है कि अल्लाह उसे कुबूल फरमाए, और गुनाह पर मेरी उम्मीद यह होती है कि अल्लाह मुझे माफ कर दे।

Hope shouldn’t increase with good deeds and decrease with sin. In good deeds, my hope is for Allah to accept. In sin, my hope is for Allah to forgive.

अगर आप अपनी और दूसरों की परेशानियों का मुसलालस जायज़ा लें, यहाँ तक कि फिल्मों या उपन्यासों में भी, तो आप देखेंगे कि आपके सारे दुखों की जड़ सिर्फ और सिर्फ दुनिया से आपका जुड़ाव या मोह है।

Seek those who help you hear your own heart.

इस रमज़ान को सिर्फ रस्मों-रिवाज़ का एक त्यौहार न बनने दें। कुरान की तिलावत तब तक ख़त्म न करें जब तक वह आपके अंदर बदलाव न ले आए। सहरी में अपने जिस्म को तो खाना खिलाएँ, लेकिन अपने दिल को कियाम (इबादत) से भूखा न रखें। रहमत की इस मूसलाधार बारिश को सिर्फ मिठाइयों और भव्य इफ्तार का महीना बनाकर न रह जाने दें। उसे तलाश करें, आप पा लेंगे। बदलाव, सुधार और तौबा की तरफ एक सच्चा कदम बढ़ाएँ। अगर आप ऐसा करेंगे, तो आप उसे अपने बिल्कुल सामने पाएँगे। इस महीने उसे ढूँढ लीजिए। वह हमेशा से वहीं मौजूद है—आपकी गर्दन की रग से भी ज़्यादा करीब। ढूँढेंगे तो पा लेंगे, चलेंगे तो मंज़िल पर पहुँच जाएँगे।

Don't let this Ramadan be just a holiday of rituals. Don't finish reading the Quran without it transforming you. Don't feed your body at suhoor, but starve your heart of Qiyam. Don't reduce this downpour of mercy to just a month of sweets and lavish iftars. Seek Him, you will find. Take a sincere step towards change, transformation, redemption. If you do, you will find Him in front of you. Find Him this month. He's been there all along. Closer than your jugular vein. Look and you'll find. Walk and you'll arrive.

मैं आपको ज़िंदा रहने का एक ही तरीका बताता हूँ: अल्लाह से कहें कि वह आपके दिल के चारों तरफ एक ऐसा सुरक्षा कवच बना दे, जिससे सिर्फ वही चीज़ें अंदर आ सकें जिनसे वह मोहब्बत करता है।

I'll tell you the only way to survive: Ask God to place a semi-permeable shield around your heart: One that only allows what He loves to enter.

क्या आपको नहीं लगता कि यह एक बड़ी समस्या है कि हम ऐसे समाज में जी रहे हैं जहाँ एक औरत की सबसे बड़ी उपलब्धि किसी मर्द के लिए सुंदर दिखना मानी जाती है?

Don’t you think there’s a problem when we live in a society that considers a woman’s greatest accomplishment being pretty for a man?

जिस तरह सूरज दिन ढलने पर डूब जाता है, वैसे ही रमज़ान भी आएगा और चला जाएगा, और हमारे दिल के आसमान पर सिर्फ अपनी एक गहरी छाप छोड़ जाएगा।

Like the sun that sets at the end of the day, so too will Ramadan come and go, leaving only it's mark on our heart's sky.

आपको कभी भी आज़माइशों से नहीं डरना चाहिए, बल्कि इस बात से डरना चाहिए कि कहीं आप बिना किसी सहारे (अल्लाह की मदद) के उन आज़माइशों में अकेले न खड़े हों।

You never have to be scared of the trials but of standing alone in the trials without shelter (Allah's help).

इस दुनिया में, तस्वीर हमेशा हक़ीक़त से बेहतर लगती है। लेकिन जन्नत में, हक़ीक़त किसी भी तस्वीर से कहीं ज़्यादा खूबसूरत होगी।

In dunya, the image is always better than the reality. In Jennah, the Reality is better than any image ever could be.

कभी-कभी मुझे लगता है कि ज़िंदगी का इकलौता मक़सद हमें हमारे घुटनों के बल लाना है... जो अल्लाह को पुकारने की सबसे बेहतरीन मुद्रा है।

Sometimes I think life's only mission is to bring us to our knees...the perfect position to seek God.

अगर आप सोच रहे हैं कि आप इस नए दिल के टूटने के गम से कैसे उबरेंगे, तो बस ज़रा पीछे मुड़कर देखिए। उन सब चीज़ों को याद कीजिए जिनसे आप पहले गुज़र चुके हैं। और तब भी तो आपने हर बार यही कसम खाई थी कि आप इस मुसीबत से कभी बाहर नहीं आ पाएंगे। लेकिन आप बाहर आ गए ना! और ज़रा देखिए कि आज आप कहाँ हैं। यह वक्त भी गुज़र जाएगा!

If you wonder how you'll get through this new heartbreak, just think back. Remember all you've been through in the past. And how each time you swore, you'd never get through it. But you did. And look where you're at now. This too shall pass!

उस जिस्म का क्या हश्र होगा जिसे भूखा रखा गया हो, दम घोंटा गया हो और फिर ज़बरदस्ती ज़हर पिलाया गया हो? वह पहले तड़पेगा और फिर दर्दनाक मौत मरेगा। हम खुद अपनी मर्ज़ी से अल्लाह की याद से मुँह मोड़कर अपने दिलों को भूखा रखते हैं और उनका दम घोंटते हैं। और फिर हम बुरी संगत में रहकर, अपनी आँखों और कानों में गंदगी भरकर, और अपनी ज़बान से ज़हरीली बातें निकालकर अपने दिलों को ज़हर देते हैं... और फिर हैरान होते हैं कि हमारा दिल मुर्दा सा क्यों महसूस होता है।

What would happen to a body that was starved, suffocated and then forced to drink poison? It would first suffer and then die an agonizing death. We willingly starve and suffocate our hearts by turning away form the remembrance of God. And then we poison our hearts through the bad company we keep, the garbage that goes into our eyes and ears, and emanates from our tongue... And then we wonder why our heart feels dead.

हमारा पहला और असली घर जन्नत था: एक ऐसा जहाँ जो हमेशा से मुकम्मल और अमर है। इसलिए उस तरह की ज़िंदगी की चाहत हमारे वजूद का हिस्सा है। दिक्कत यह है कि हम उसे यहीं इसी दुनिया में तलाश करने की कोशिश करते हैं। और इसीलिए हम इस दुनिया को वैसी शक्ल देने की नाकाम कोशिश में एंटी-एजिंग क्रीम और कॉस्मेटिक सर्जरी का सहारा लेते हैं जैसी यह कभी थी ही नहीं और न कभी होगी।

Our first and true home was Paradise: a land that is both perfect and eternal. So the yearning for that type of life is a part of our being. The problem is that we try to find that here. And so we create ageless creams and cosmetic surgery in a desperate attempt to hold on-in an attempt to mold this world into what it is not, and will never be.

अल्लाह की मोहब्बत को अपने ज़ख्म भरने दें। और आपको आज़ाद करने दें।

Let the love of Allah heal you. And free you.

हम जैसी ज़िंदगी जीते हैं, वैसे ही हमारी मौत होती है। ज़िंदगी में जो चीज़ सबसे ज़्यादा अहम होती है, मौत के वक्त वही हम पर हावी हो जाती है। दुनिया से हमारा मोह उस वक्त साफ तौर पर सामने आ जाता है।

We die as we lived. Whatever was most important in life, will consume us at death. Whatever attachments we had will become evident then.

अपनी रहमत के तहत, उसने हमें सीधा करने के लिए खुद तूफ़ान को भेजा ताकि हम मदद की गुहार लगाएँ। और यह जानते हुए कि हम शायद गलत जवाब चुन लेंगे, उसने हमें बहुविकल्पीय (multiple choice) परीक्षा दी जिसमें चुनने के लिए सिर्फ एक ही सही विकल्प था: सही जवाब। यह आज़माइश ही असल में राहत है। बाकी सारे सहारे और सारे दूसरे विकल्प छीनकर, उसने इस इम्तिहान को बेहद आसान बना दिया है। तूफ़ान आने पर सीधा खड़ा रहना कभी आसान नहीं होता। और बात असल में यही है। हवा चलाकर, वह हमें हमारे घुटनों के बल झुका देता है: जो दुआ माँगने की सबसे बेहतरीन मुद्रा है।

In his mercy, He sent the storm itself to make us seek help. And then knowing that we're likely to get the wrong answer, He gives us a multiple choice exam with only one option to choose from: the correct answer. The hardship itself is ease. By taking away all other hand-holds, all other multiple choice options, He has made the test simple.It's never easy to stand when the storm hits. And that's exactly the point. By sending the wind, He brings us to our knees: the perfect position to pray

शैतान आपसे कहेगा कि आप इस काबिल नहीं हैं, इसलिए हार मान लीजिए। लेकिन उसके सारे फंदे झूठ पर टिके होते हैं। आख़िर इनमें से कौन सी चीज़ कभी आपकी 'योग्यता' की वजह से थी? यह सब कुछ उसकी रहमत, उसकी दरियादिली, देने के उसके शौक और माफ करने की उसकी आदत की वजह से था। और ये खूबियाँ सिर्फ इसलिए नहीं बदल जातीं कि आप से गुनाह हो गया है। बस उसे पुकारिए। अपनी नेकियों के वास्ते नहीं, बल्कि उसकी रहमत का हवाला देकर उसे पुकारिए।

Shaytan will tell you that you’re not worthy, so give up. But his traps are based on lies. When was any of it because of *your* worth? It was all because of His mercy, His generosity, His love of giving, and forgiving. And those qualities don’t change because you’re messing up. Just seek them. Call Him by His mercy, not by your deeds.

दिल को खाली करने का मतलब यह बिल्कुल नहीं है कि आप किसी से मोहब्बत न करें। इसके उलट, अल्लाह ने जैसी सच्ची मोहब्बत चाही है, वह सबसे ज़्यादा पाक तब होती है जब वह किसी झूठे मोह पर आधारित न हो। दिल को पहले खाली करने की यह प्रक्रिया कलमा-ए-शहादत (ईमान की गवाही) के पहले हिस्से में मिल जाती है।

To empty the heart does not mean to not love. On the contrary, true love, as God intented it, is purest when it is not based on a false attachment. The process of first emptying the heart can be found in the beginning half of the shahada (declaration of faith).

मेरी बहनों, आइए 'फ़ैशन' से कह दें कि हम अल्लाह से ज़्यादा प्यार करती हैं!

My sisters, let's tell 'fashion' we love Allah more!

इस कैद हुई रूह से कह दो कि इस पर कभी किसी का कब्ज़ा नहीं हो सकता। कोई भी चीज़ कभी तुम्हें गुलाम नहीं बना सकती सिवाय अल्लाह के।

Tell this imprisoned soul that it will never be owned. Nothing will ever own you. But God.

किसी भी कौम में, मुनाफिक (पाखंडी) लोग फ़ितने (गंभीर परीक्षाओं और मुश्किलों) के दौर के अलावा कभी बेनकाब नहीं होते।

In any nation, the hypocrites do not become apparent except during times of fitnah (severe tests and hardships).

अल्लाह के हाथों में टूट जाओ, वह तुम्हें फिर से जोड़ देगा। इंसानों के हाथों में टूटोगे, तो हमेशा के लिए टूटे हुए रह जाओगे। अगर किसी के आगे नहीं टूटे, तो तुम्हारा दिल पत्थर हो जाएगा।

Break in the hands of God, He'll unbreak you. Break in the hands of people, you'll remain forever broken. Break to no one, your heart will remain hard.

आह... मैंने सीखा है कि *हर* चीज़ बहुत मुश्किल है... सिवाय उस चीज़ के जिसे अल्लाह आसान बना दे। इसलिए हमें उससे *गिड़गिड़ाकर* दुआ करनी चाहिए कि वह इसे हमारे लिए आसान कर दे।

Sigh... I have learned that *everything* is so hard...except what Allah makes easy. So we must *beg* Him to make it easy on us.

इंसानियत में मेरी प्यारी बहनों: आपकी खूबसूरती—चाहे अंदरूनी हो या बाहरी—अनमोल है। सिर्फ उस मर्द को आपको देखने का हक है जिससे आपकी शादी हुई है। कभी मत भूलिए कि अगर वह आपसे शादी नहीं करना चाहता, तो वह आपके काबिल ही नहीं है।

My dear sisters in humanity: Your beauty-both internal and external-is priceless. Only the man who marries you has a right to see it. Never forget, if he doesn't want to marry you, he doesn't deserve you.

किब्र (अहंकार) का गुनाह असल में उन कई गुनाहों से भी ज़्यादा बुरा है जिनके बारे में हम [दूसरों को] नसीहत देते हैं।

The sin of Kibr (arrogance) is actually worse than many of the sins that we would be advising [other] people about.

जिन दिलों की हिफ़ाज़त की ज़िम्मेदारी आपको सौंपी गई है, उनका ख़्याल रखिए। एक बार जो ये हाथ से निकल गए, तो हमेशा के लिए आपसे दूर हो सकते हैं।

Take care of the hearts you've been entrusted with. Once lost, they can be lost from you forever.

क्या आप अक्सर असमंजस में रहते हैं? यह नहीं समझ पाते कि किस राह पर चलें? इसकी वजह यह है कि हम अल्लाह से रुजू करने से पहले ज़रिया ढूँढने लगते हैं (यानी दुनिया के सहारे और अपने खुद के कमज़ोर दिमाग पर भरोसा करने लगते हैं)।

Do you struggle with confusion? Not knowing which way to go? Here's why: We turn to means (help of creation, our own mind) before turning to God.

अल्लाह अल-करीम यानी बेहद करम करने वाला है; इसलिए अगर वह आपको कुछ नहीं देता, तो इसकी वजह कंजूसी बिल्कुल नहीं होती, बल्कि यह उसकी अदृश्य उदारता है। वह कुछ रोकता भी है तो सिर्फ इसलिए ताकि बाद में और बेहतर नवाज़ सके।

Allah is al-Kareem, so if He withholds from you it is not on account of stinginess. It is on account of His generosity. He withholds to give.

मुस्लिम महिलाओं के रूप में, हम इस खामोश गुलामी और बेड़ियों से आज़ाद हो चुकी हैं। हमें अपनी कीमत साबित करने के लिए समाज के गढ़े हुए सुंदरता या फैशन के पैमानों की ज़रूरत नहीं है। आदर पाने के लिए हमें मर्दों की तरह बनने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, और न ही हमें किसी राजकुमार का इंतज़ार है जो आकर हमें बचाए या हमारी ज़िंदगी को मुकम्मल करे। हमारी इज्ज़त, हमारा मान-सम्मान, हमारी मुक्ति और हमारा पूर्ण होना किसी इंसान के हाथ में नहीं, बल्कि सारे जहान के मालिक के हाथों में है।

As Muslim women, we have been liberated from this silent bondage. We don’t need society’s standard of beauty or fashion, to define our worth. We don’t need to become just like men to be honored, and we don’t need to wait for a prince to save or complete us. Our worth, our honor, our salvation, and our completion lies not in the slave. But, in the Lord of the slave.

अगर आप सच्चे दिल से उसे पुकारेंगे, तो अल्लाह आपको बुलंदियों पर पहुँचा सकता है और आपकी ज़िंदगी के गहरे अंधेरों को अपने नूर के उजाले में बदल सकता है।

If you seek Him, God can raise you up, and replace the darkness of the ocean, with the light of His Sun.

अहंकार असल में और कुछ नहीं बल्कि महज़ अज्ञानता है। यह इस बात से बेखबर होना है कि दुनिया के मुकाबले आपकी असलियत क्या है - और सबसे बढ़कर, अपने रब के सामने आपकी क्या औकात है।

Arrogance is actually just ignorance. Ignorance of what you really are in relation to the world-but most of all in relation to God.

असली और हमेशा रहने वाली ज़िंदगी तो वह है जो इस दुनिया से आँख खुलने के बाद शुरू होती है। और उसी बेदारी के पल में हमें एहसास होता है... कि यह सब तो बस एक सपना था।

The enduring life is the one that begins once we awaken from this world. And it is in that awakening that we realize... It was only a dream

इसीलिए ऐसे मोमिन के दिल में एक तरह की जन्नत बस जाती है। यह वही जन्नत है जिसका ज़िक्र इब्न तैमिया (अल्लाह उनकी मग़फ़्फ़रत फ़रमाए) ने किया था जब उन्होंने कहा था: 'सच तो यह है कि इस दुनिया में भी एक जन्नत है, और जो कोई उस जन्नत में दाखिल नहीं होता, वह आख़िर की जन्नत में भी दाखिल नहीं हो पाएगा।' और उस रूहानी जन्नत का सुकून किसी पल भर का नाम नहीं है, वह तो एक शाश्वत और कभी न खत्म होने वाली अवस्था है।

And so in the heart of such a believer is a sort of paradise. That is the paradise that Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on his soul, spoke of when he said: 'Truly, there is a Heaven in this world, [and] whoever does not enter it, will not enter the Heaven of the next world.' And in that heaven, complete peace is not something of a moment. It is a state, eternal.

इन सबसे ऊपर, हमें कभी भी धोखे में नहीं रहना चाहिए। हमें यह कभी नहीं सोचना चाहिए कि इस दुनिया में कुछ भी, अल्लाह की मर्ज़ी के बिना सफल होता है, असफल होता है, मिलता है, छिनता है, या होता और बिगड़ता है। ज़िंदगी में हमारा आगे बढ़ना या गिरना, इस दुनिया के साथ और पूरी इंसानियत के साथ हमारे रिश्ते - सब कुछ हमारे रब के साथ हमारे ताल्लुक पर निर्भर करता है।

Most of all, we must never be deceived. We must never allow ourselves to think that anything in this world succeeds, fails, is given, taken, done, or undone without Allah. It is only by our connection to our Creator that we rise or fall in life, in our relationship with our world—and with all of humanity.

आप सिर्फ वही अपने साथ रखते हैं जो आप उसे... यानी अपने रब की राह में दे देते हैं।

You keep only what you give...to Him.

मेरे इस वजूद का और कोई मक़सद नहीं है सिवाय इसके कि मैं अपने रब को जानूँ, उससे मोहब्बत करूँ और उसके करीब होऊँ। यही वह इकलौती वजह है जिसके लिए मुझे पैदा किया गया है। और यह ज़िंदगी का सबसे बड़ा और ज़रूरी सच है, क्योंकि यही मेरी बाकी हर सोच, काम और यकीन को तय करता है। यही मेरी हर चीज़ को और ज़िंदगी के हर अनुभव को एक असल मायने देता है।

T]here is no other purpose of my existence except to know, love and get closer to God. This is the one and only reason why I was created. And this is the most essential realization, as it defines everything else I do or believe. It defines all things around me, and everything I experience in life.

इस दुनिया को वह बनाने की कोशिश करना छोड़ दीजिए जो यह कभी बन ही नहीं सकती और न ही कभी इसके लिए बनाई गई थी: यानी जन्नत। जिस दिन आप यह मान लेंगे, उसी दिन से यह आपका दिल दुखाना बंद कर देगा।

Stop trying to make this life into what it cannot and never was intended to be: jennah. Only then will it stop breaking your heart.

मेरे लिए जन्नत वह जगह है जहाँ आपको आपके चाहने वाले मिलते हैं, यहाँ तक कि वे लोग भी जिनसे आप इस ज़िंदगी में हमेशा नहीं मिल पाते। और फिर आप हमेशा-हमेशा के लिए उनके साथ होते हैं।

To me, jennah is the place where you get to be with the people you love, including those you can't always be with in this life. And being with them forever.

अगर तुम मुहम्मद (स.) की इबादत करते थे, तो जान लो कि मुहम्मद इस दुनिया से जा चुके हैं। लेकिन अगर तुम अल्लाह की इबादत करते थे, तो यह जान लो कि अल्लाह कभी नहीं मरता, वह हमेशा ज़िंदा है।

If you worshipped Muhammad, know that Muhammad is dead. But if you worshipped Allah, know that Allah never dies.

मुझे लगता है कि हम ऐसे लोगों की तलाश में रहते हैं जो हमारे बचपन के टूटे हुए हिस्सों को जोड़ सकें या ठीक कर सकें।

I think we seek out people who we hope will fix what our childhood broke.
